Hi Dr, just read your post on the CareCredit and wanted to speak from a patient perspective. You are so right about the importance of the conversation. One thing that I've experienced as a patient, is HOW different that looks from office to office. It meant the difference between choosing to stay with one dentist or another. For example... I unfortunately needed a lot of work done, and the dentist clerk advised me that I better start saving, and have I put away money for this?
Absolutely showing zero compassion for what I was going through pain wise at the time.
On the other hand, I applauded my current dentist team for making the conversation much more comfortable and tactful. She advised me of an estimated quote and said, "let me look at your insurance so at least we can figure out where you stand. Meanwhile, there is a carecredit option to look into, and that might be helpful for you. I understand how hard it is to pay so much money at once for dental work. So consider it, while I check into your insurance coverage and we can circle back around to how best to move forward with a plan your comfortable with."
9 months later, CareCredit has helped me to the tune of 10,000 and my dentist is phenomonal.
