Can you hear me now?
I saw a nice new perio charting program on display at SCN today. Kimberly Goodson, a hygienist, has developed a program called Periopal. Very nice looking program with good printouts and the ability to show the previous five chartings. Their approach is different than most. Rather than have a huge library of thousands of words which decreases accuracy, Periopal uses about 100 words per screen, maximizing accuracy.
The program retails for $2995 plus extra for more workstations. The only downside I see is that it currently only works with Eaglesoft. They are working on Softdent and PracticeWorks integration. Dentrix, with their own Voice and Dictation programs, seems highly unlikely to be willing to bridge with Periopal.
